Prerequisite: CIS120 or documented proficiency.Įmphasizes design and proper preparation of electronic pre-press files for print and digital production. General principles of page layout design will be studied including the placement of text, images, illustrations and logotypes and the important synthesis of these elements.
Emphasis will be placed on the production of basic business publications including newsletters, fliers, brochures, etc. Introduces the student to the computer software used in the development of page design and layout.
Prerequisite: CIS120 or documented proficiency. Free productivity applications for time and income tracking, creating estimates and invoices, and project management will also be explored. Provides an overview of various Adobe applications including Acrobat DC, Dreamweaver, Spark, Portfolio and Behance to create web and portfolio sites, social media posts and videos. Recommended prerequisites: ART115 and DDM160. Does not fulfill degree or certificate requirements for computer proficiency. Students must provide their own digital single lens reflex cameras and these cameras must be able to allow for manual adjustment of shutter speed and aperture. Students will learn how various lenses effect the depth of field and image quality of an exposure. Students will learn how to manually operate a digital camera, taking control of aperture settings, shutter speeds, and ISO controls. Topics include, image composition, digital camera techniques in various formats including raw, GIF, JPEG, and PNG, digital processing using Adobe Photoshop and digital printing. Offers instruction in the use of a SLR digital camera and fundamentals of digital photography. Corequisite: CIS120 or documented proficiency.
These experiences shall provide a working ability in graphic design for students interested in graphic design, web design or for personal enrichment. The intent of this class is to provide a sound foundation and experience in the organization of design elements, individual creative processes, a heightened sense of aesthetics a grasp of printed and Web principles, and basic typography. Concepts in color, typography, logo design, page layout, package design and Web page design are covered. Exercises include an introduction to the use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
